A burial vault is usually a sealed reinforced concrete receptacle for the casket that is used when ground burial is taking place. Although there are no state laws requiring a vault, most cemeteries have regulations requiring a vault or an unsealed grave liner to prevent collapse and sinking of the grave. We have a selection of vaults in our display room which include a grave liner, the regular sealed type and also the premium vaults with plastic or metal liners. Some cemeteries have sections that have graves that include "ground crypts". These are unsealed concrete boxes that are already in the grave when the graves are purchased. When a casket is to be placed in it, a layer of dirt is removed, the crypt's lid is lifted off, the casket is lowered into position, and the lid and dirt are replaced. It has a drain for the ground water that will pass through the chamber.
Here is the Sentinel, a typical plastic/fiberglass lined sealed vault. For more information on vaults, go to: Eagle Vaults |
